Dr. Christopher L. Shelby, MD

After graduating from Texas A&M, Dr. Shelby returned home for his medical training and practice. His home office is located at WK Portico Center, but he performs surgeries at the WK Eye Surgery Center in the Willis-Knighton Eye Institute Eye Surgery Center at the health system’s north campus. He is widely known for his eye surgery expertise, having performed several “firsts,” continuing the innovative technological for eye care at Willis-Knighton. During his career, he has taught cataract surgery to LSU Health ophthalmology residents and has trained ophthalmologists on the use of technology, including the LenSx femtosecond laser. His interest in surgery is a reasonable one to those who recall his father, the late pioneer heart surgeon Dr. Stan Shelby. Dr. Shelby is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, and the European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery. Dr. Shelby and his wife, Carolyn, are proud to be parents of three children and to call Shreveport their home.
